living room tour-january 2010

My living room is probably my most favorite room in our home right now :) Right now because "my favorite" can change daily!! Today it is clean and it is exactly the way I want it to look :) While our washing machine is broke, our dryer is living in the living room :) We kind of like it in here though, as weird as that sounds. It actually looks ok :)
We also finally got curtains (from Urban Outfitters). I have been wanting curtains since like August.
So, here it is! My favorite room in the house today :)
The Living Room.

1. Tell us about yourself! (your name, your age, what you do etc)

Hi, my name is Marie and I am 26 years old. I live in Denmark with my boyfriend for 9 years, my dog: Saga and our 4 ferrets. We're all living in a small house in the country. We love the nature here and the silence. Im currently not working, because of a car accident, but when I'm feeling okay I can't stop create.
Sometimes I write articles, make kits and online classes at a danish online scrapbooking magazine: www.scrapsisters.dk I have been there for almost 2 years now, and I love it. Here is my blog.

2. What kind of crafts (or other hobbies) are you into right now?

I really love scrapbooking, it's been close to my heart for about 3-4 years now. This summer I started to crochet, and I can't stop! I also love to sew, Hama Beads and paint.

3. What are some of your current obsessions?

Bows! I want to make some now! Anything colourfull and especially yellow and turqouise, is what my eyes are searching at the moment

4. What is one of your crafty goals (or other goals) for 2010?

I really want my scrap nook to be a really happy place, and get rid of all the mess! Im getting there, but I'm not quite done yet. When it's done, it's going to be my little happy place where I can be everyday and create something cute.

5. What makes your blog special and why should we read it?

I try to allways include alot of images in my posts. I make alot of details pictures of my scrapbooking layouts, and I show you little pieces of my life and what I currently love. Im honest, trying to be colourfull and want to inspire all of you.

how about a d.i.y?

I absolutely adore my Nintendo DS and I pretty much carry it around with me in my bag a lot.

I decided today, that I wanted to make a cute little bag to carry it in, like a DS case I guess. All of the cases that were at the store were not cute and I knew that it would be easy enough just to make one!
Easy enough for ALL of us to make.
Here are the supplies you will need:

needle
thread
thick yarn (I used Lion Brand)
a G sized crochet hook
embellishments of your choice
1. First step is to chain stitch 25
and begin to single crochet

2. I didn't count how many rows that crocheted but I just stopped when it was a little bit longer than my DS. End your crochet but leave your tails long enough so that you can use them to stitch the sides together later.

3. Fold your crocheted piece in half so that it's the perfect little DS size now :)

4. Use your tails and weave them through your stitches to sew the open side together.

5. continue to weave in the tails through the bottom opening of your case as well :)

6. Now your case should look like this!

7. and now you just flip it inside out :)

8. Now it's time to add your embellishments!! I have a gumball machine filled with these cute crocheted circles. Take your needle and thread and apply them to your new case!!

9. and now admire the cuteness!

That was a lot of fun!! I still haven't decided if I want to add a zipper or a button and loop for closure. This cutie bag could be used for pretty much anything!! If you decide to make one, please leave me a comment with a link so I can check it out!
Also, opinion time...would you like to see more little D.I.Y. projects on my blog??
love you!

check!

Time to look back on my January goals and see how well I did at accomplishing them!
The ones that are pink, are the ones that I accomplished

January Goals:
1. Start weight watchers
2. read two books

3. continue to crochet my afghan
4. do my knee exercises every single day
5. Take my calcium supplement every day (I don't do milk)
6. send out Happy Mail as much as I can
7. do a daily devotional every day this month
8. find or make a great birthday present for my sister.
9. take good care of Adam after his heart surgery. (postponed until March)
10. be a blessing

Yikes! Not sooo good. Well, kind of good but not the best that's for sure. Especially because the things that I did not accomplish are the things that I need!!
Well...at least by documenting all of these goals I do feel more accountable and even more serious now about getting more of them accomplished each month.
And with that....my new goals:

February Goals:
1. Make something cute for valentine's day (home-made gifts only)
2. take a picture of Adam and I on our 1 year anniversary (one year already!!!)
3. work out at least 4 times a week
4. get highlights
5. read 2 books
6. be a blessing daily
7. come up with an idea for my 30th birthday
8. get our washing machine fixed or get a new one
(if I was a millionaire, I would get this one :D)

9. keep up with WW.

** easy enough I THINK :) Let's hope I do better than last month! I will, promise :)
Thank you so much for letting me share these goals with you.

fill-in-the-blank friday!

Ok so I decided that I love the fill in the blanks so much that I am going to start a new feature on my blog called...
Fill-in-the-blank Friday. This is surely not an "original" idea but I think it will be fun!!
So happy first fill in the blank Friday!!!!
Untitled-2
I am going to post the blank version here in the post so that you can copy and paste it in the comment section. I will also post my fill in the blank in the comment section so check it out!!
Here we go...

1. If I could dye my hair any color it would be ______________________________ .

2. Every ________, it is a must that I __________________________.

3. If I wasn't reading this blog, I would be ________________________.

oh la la! I can't wait to see your answers!! Every time I have a fill in the blank on here, I feel like I get to know you all a little better.
Have fun and let's make this feature a success!!

66 days and counting...

I have had this post in my "draft" category for about 2 weeks now because I felt it was too early to post something pertaining to my birthday.
A huge thank you to Leigh-Ann for posting her birthday wishlist last week because her birthday is actually 6 days AFTER mine.
Not I can justify posting it because if LA did it, it must be cool right??
So, April 5 is my big 3-0 birthday!! Insane if you ask me. I'm pretty sure I don't look 30 and I am 100% sure I act more like a 15 year old than a 30 year old.
Etsy, is obviously an amazing source for any gift-buying/receiving and I am very serious about supporting indie businesses and artists so I am going to make my list of strictly Etsy items that I would love for my birthday:
1. A thread spool holder. I like this one, but any one would do :)

2. This lovely cross-stitched locket.

3. or these cross-stitched earrings

4. i am in love with this custom silhouette portrait ring

5. this sticker pack

6. one of these

7. THIS CHAIR (i love love love it, hence the caps)

8. And of course, any of these things from Rob Ryan's shop :)

That is just a little sample of things I love :) You know, I like to make sure you have lots of options :)
Now, remember Adam, you can't wait when it comes to Etsy!!
A girl can dream right??
love love love you!

Blog Feature: Amber!

1. Tell us about yourself! (your name, your age, what you do etc)

My name is Amber and I am turning 33 next Monday! I can't believe I will be 33 because I sure don't act or feel like it! I am married to Scott and we have three kitties: Boomer, Betty Jo, and Babakeenya. We live in a tiny farmhouse in the middle of the city! It is better known as Poot Manor, since Scott and I have nicknamed each other Poot and Poot. It has caught on and most of our friends and family members call us Poot. It is not uncommon to hear me yelling a couple aisle over in the grocery store, "Poot did you grab the eggs?" It makes us smile! I currently work in a medical office as an office assistant during the day and at night I craft away.

2. What kind of crafts (or other hobbies) are you into right now?

Right now I can't stop crocheting. I love it! I am addicted. I also enjoy knitting, sewing, scrapbooking, and embroidery.

3. What are some of your current obsessions?

Yarn! I would buy it all if I could. I am also loving scarves, headbands, and my slouchy black boots. I also can't stop watching Big Love, Project Runway, and Biggest Loser. I am sort of a reality tv junkie!

4. What is one of your crafty goals (or other goals) for 2010?

My number one goal is to open up an etsy store this year. Several years back I sold vintage clothes on Ebay. I went through some llife changes and put it on the back burner. When I moved into Poot Manor I couldn't believe how many amazing vintage pieces I had still! So in the next couple of months I really want to open it up! Also I would love to finish a granny square afghan and a ripple afghan....and a quilt!

5. What makes your blog special and why should we read it?

I think it is special because it honestly reflects who I am! Poot and I have an amazing group of friends and we are always going on some crazy little road trip! We try to cram as much fun into a day as we can! It also is a place for me to show off my crafty creations and those of others that I find inspiring! I keep it positive and fun!

6. Name your 5 favorite blogs! (with the links so I can link them)

It was hard to pick just 5. I of course love Janel's blog too, duh!

Seriously, will you look at these houses!
They are like life sized magical doll houses that I wish I had in my back yard just to play in.
In love.

Tomorrow I will be posting my birthday wishlist :)
Im excited!!
