Project Life-Week 45

Week 45

This was another jam packed week.  This week is a perfect example of why Project Life is awesome.  There were so many elements of this week that would NEVER have been documented if I was doing a traditional scrapbook.  I love how this project allows me to EASILY document the silly everyday things that make my life, my life.

Adam, Amelia and I stood in a freezing cold line for 2 hours to cast our vote for President.  Adam chose to write in Amelia as the Missouri State senator.
I also sewed two new dresses for Amelia this week.

This fun little envelope page is the perfect size to hold my finished DVD with our video testimony for Orphan Sunday.  (Now I just have to find the DVD!)

My invitations, envelopes, badges and diaper pins came for Amelia's Gotcha Day party and I wanted a place to document all of those things.  Perfection.

This is the back of the invitation and the adorable labels that sealed the back of the envelopes.  Seriously, Nissa, you rocked these invitations.

Also, during this week was Amelia's Christmas photo shoot with Fresh Art Photography.  This was our cute little sneak peek :)
And finally, Amelia and I did an impromptu painting session one morning before school so that we could make her grammy this special little painting for her birthday!!

fun fun fun.
Week 46 is the BIGGEST week in my Project Life album so I am so excited to share it.
See you tomorrow.

i made a dress!

While Adam's family was in town, I wanted his mom to teach me how to sew a dress.
She is so incredibly talented with a sewing machine and can pretty much make anything.
She taught me how to read a pattern and completely follow until I had the most adorable dress ever for Amelia!!

I totally made the cutest little bloomers ever too!  I can't believe how easy it is to make bloomers!!

Here is the final product.  I am so excited about this dress and can not wait to make another one!!

What do you guys think?

cutest bibs on the block

I decided early on to make a lot of the things that will be a part of my baby's life.  Her toys, sheets, blankets, pillows, dolls, burp cloths, etc.
We don't have much money to spend on frills plus the handmade aspect of things is one of my ways to show love.
Everything that I have made for her, has been made with so much love.
This week I have been working on bibs :)  This past summer, my dad and I made a ton of cute vintage inspired burp cloths and some bibs.  This week I worked on finishing a lot of those bibs, and making a few more...

In fact, the only bib that I have purchased so far is this adorable one that I couldn't pass up from Renegade a couple of years ago.  June Craft is one of my favorite Etsy shops and this little bib is perfect!

I'm pretty sure the little one while have the cutest bibs around :)  They will go perfectly with all of those adorable burp cloths too.

17 January 2012

as of late.

I have been quite the busy bee lately over here.
My days and nights have been jam packed and I love it.
Here is a little overview.

1.  I sorted through all of the clothing I have for baby.  There are sooooo many!!  We have been blessed by so many people sending us cute little vintage numbers and hitting a lot of garage sale jackpots and mega sales at stores. I had them sorted by size and hung them all in the bottom half of my side of the closet.
piles...
 and more piles...
Thankfully, my mom was there to help me go through it all and suggest better ways to organize it all.  Moms are the best yeah?

2.  Sewing headband and hair bows for some of my fellow art teacher friends.  We fell in love with this crazy fabric during our professional development day and I wanted to make little presents out of it for us :)  I have also been sewing curtains for my mom this week too.

3.  Creating a little Project Life station.  My mom's friend is cleaning out her mother's home and is bringing me a lot of wonderful treasures; including this cart.  It's lovely and perfect and has an electrical plug-in and wheels.

4.  Being blessed by my amazing Pastor and his amazing wife.  (Our church family is so important to us).

5.  Preparing more and more for the little ones arrival, whenever that may happen.

6. Listening to Martin Luther King speeches like they are going out of style!!  (Which they never will be :D).  This one is my all time favorite; The Drum Major's Instinct.  In fact from like 29 minutes on is my most favorite part.  I challenge you to listen to it.

7. Rollerskating with some of my best friends for my sister's birthday party.

8.  Most of my time has been spent on planning and making decor and invites, and all of that fun stuff, for my sister's baby shower!!  It's not for awhile but I like being ahead of the game. It's how I roll :)

So yeah, it's been busy, but it has been great.
I love being able to fit in so many things that I love doing you know?
I also picked up all of the supplies that I need for my Pinterest Party project!!
So exciting!!
Ok, I am off to finish the book I am reading. It's unputdownable.
night friends!

Project #8

 Hello there!
I finally got around to photographing last night's project :)
I can't believe that I am already on Project #8 and I feel like I have a list of so many more projects I want to do.  This was definitely a great kick start for me to get back into my creating groove.
Okay, project 8...

Last year, at Renegade, I bought this adorable cut and sew dog toy from June Craft
Ok, I bought this and pretty much everything else in their booth :)  Their product is adorable and well-priced, and perfection.

So, with a little bit of cutting, and little bit of sewing and stuffing, I have this adorable little soft dog toy to add to the crib 'o toys!!
I love how the backing of all of their stuff is made from vintage fabric.
Like I said, perfection.

And you can see a little peek at tonight's project underneath the little puppy :)
Tonight I am hoping to finish up the binding!!

little sewing...

So, since there will soon be a little someone living in our house, it's time to make some room :)  I have thought about and thought about what I wanted to do with my studio space.
The studio space WAS in the nursery and NOW I have a teeny tiny little studio space In our living room :)
I pretty much love it so much.  As you can see in the photo above, the studio is now directly between our kitchen counter and a bookshelf :)
To give you an idea on how tiny the space is...it used to house our tee-pee...

Teeny!
Even though it's a lot like my old studio, it still feels fresh and new and super inspiring!
I decided to christen my new little studio space by whipping up some more baby DIY projects.  Here are some of the things that I will be attempting (the links to the tutorials are underneath the photo)

1.  these cutie pie little shoes...

2.  oh and another adorable little pair of shoes...

3.  cute little baby hats, ready for the chillier weather...

4.  these adorable little baby leggings...

5.  and a fabric mobile..

And if you need any other GREAT baby sewing tutorials, you can check out this round-up!
Oh geeze, I am so excited to start sewing in my new little studio space :)
