Prompt 18

Happy July!!  I seriously can not believe that it's July already...crazy.  My summer is slipping away :)

Journal Prompt 18:  Music is one of my most favorite things ever!!  It translates emotions that I can't even imagine putting into words.  I love it.  Today I want you to create a playlist of some kind. It can be your summer playlist, your July playlist, songs from your wedding day, or favorite songs of all time :)  This one will be another fun one to look at down the road :)

My page:

I decided to create a playlist of my All-time favorite Songs.  I didn't get to finish this page before I took the picture but you can get a good idea of what I did with this prompt.  I am so not the person who always finds the cool new music, so I can't wait to get some ideas of good music from you all!!  We are so close to completing this challenge my friends!!

a sister day

Yesterday, my sister and I had the BEST sister day ever :)
We started our day at the semi-new City Garden in downtown St. Louis.  Can I just say how much I love our city.  There is seriously a treasure at every corner.  We drove by so many cool things on our way down and it made me really happy to live in such a neat place.
So, the City Garden...a definite St. Louis must see.
I think it would be such a wonderful place to take children but I plan to take Adam there and Catalina for a picnic in the near future :)
We spent about an hour here looking at all of the sculptures and even playing in the water a bit.  It was so cool!  Here are some pictures to give you an idea of this cool place.
Rad sculptures throughout the garden:

There is one of the fountains that shoot up out of holes in the ground sporadically like in the movie, Blank Check.  That was my favorite!!

There were pools, waterfalls, and mini waterways that you could walk across on boulders!! love <3

After the City Garden, we walked down to Kiener Plaza, had a a little lunch from a REAL hot dog stand (my first hot dog stand ever), and took in the view.  We also did some geocaching while we were in the area as well :)

After driving around the city a bit, and scoring urban caches all over the place, we decided to treat ourselves to St. Louis' BEST tradition ever :)

Well, according to me, it's the best tradition :)  Anyone from St. Louis has definitely heard of Gus' Pretzels and if you visit, it's definitely a must have :)
I may have gotten a few pretzels to take home with me too :)

After Gus' we went to the Lemp Mansion for another geocache and decided to learn a bit about the history of the mansion and the brewery as well.  The Lemp Mansion is apparently the most haunted building in St. Louis.
The coolest thing that I learned was that there are caves all over the place underground where the brewers stored the beer and where they entertained and performed.  All of the theatrical props and scenery and such is apparently still underground in the cave, but no one can get down there anymore because of the highway built above.  Neat!! I love history like that :)
After the mansion, we came back to my house for a bit and watched shows, sorted through broken jewelry (to make new jewelry) and cooked.  It was such a great day.  My sister is by far, the best St. Louis tour guide I know :)  Well, she's probably tied with my mom.  I am so directionally challenged it's ridiculous :)
fun fun fun.  Today was spent at the doctor's office for physicals and such.  No fun, but necessary :)  I think I am going to cuddle on the couch with Catalina and read now... love you!

Prompt 17

Journal Prompt 17:  Today you are going to illustrate a day.  It can be today, it can be yesterday, it can be a significant event that you have had in your life :)  Use pictures, labels, words, doodle, sketches, anything you want, to describe your day!  This is a cute one.  Enjoy!

My page:

I decided to draw my instax camera with a bunch of instax photos with pictures of my day. I also drew approximate times on each picture to show how my day went today :)  I really did use my instax a lot today so that was the inspiration for my idea.  I can't wait to see your pages!! Are you using the Flickr group??

Prompt 13

After I did this page, I thought of the cutest idea.  How cute would it have been to have drawn a paper doll with the little clothing pieces around it with those white tabs.  So cute.  I might do that sometime down the road :)

Prompt 15

Hello lovelies!
Prompt 15 means that we are half-way through this challenge!!
Amazing <3
Today is all about goal making :)  Goal making is one of my most favorite things to do.  I live to cross things off of lists.

Journal Prompt 15:  Today I would like you to brainstorm some goals for the upcoming month.  A short list of goals that will be attainable to accomplish in one month.

July is just around the corner and I feel like there are so many things that I need to get finished before school starts back up in August.  I never put goals that I don't think are possible for me to do at that time.

My Page:

My July goals:
1.  finish the journal challenge
2.  make 10 new items for my etsy shop
3.  find at least 10 more geocaches
4.  Read two books
5. get everything bought and ready for my kitchen and bathroom renovations!!

Hopefully I will be able to accomplish them!!
Have a great upcoming week :)

Dear Canada,

I have a major crush on you :)
I have only seen a little bit of you: Vancouver, British Columbia, Saint John, Saint Martins, and other parts of New Brunswick, Halifax, and all over Nova Scotia and I love you a lot.
Three words that I would use to describe you:
1. happy
2. beautiful
3. peaceful
Here are some of my favorite pictures from my trips to Canada:

I love the way you do things.
You run so smoothly and peacefully.
I love all of your parks
I love how spell colour and favourite
I love your sugar maple candies
I love your flowers
I love putting eh? at the end of a question
I love your smiles
I love how your money is called loonies and toonies :)  I smiled every time I heard that.
I love how no one in Vancouver had heard of crab ragoon
I ESPECIALLY love all of my favorite Canadian blog friends <3
I just really admire you Canada :)

Janel

Prompt 14

Journal Prompt 14:  Ok, now that we have all of the yucky insecurities out of our system, I want us to completely focus ONLY on the things that make you the amazing person that you are.  What are the qualities that you possess that make you so wonderful?  Don't be shy and don't be modest either on this one :)

My page:

I titled my page, "Reasons I'm so Rad:"  These are the traits that I want people to know me for.  I once read that people aren't defined by what they deal with.  I loved it. It helped me realize that even though I get anxious over silly things, that trait isn't what defines me.  I'm not Janel the girl with anxiety, I am Janel the girl who possesses the traits listed above :)  I want all of you to think about that while you are journaling today.  What would your best friend, your partner, your family member say about you??
Have fun today, brag about your amazing traits.  I love you all and I definitely can't wait to see all of these pages in the Flickr group.
double loves.

Prompt 13

Journal Prompt 13:  Silly insecurities....we all have them unfortunately.  If you don't, you are my hero :)  Today I want you to document your insecurities, face them, write them down, reflect on them, and get them out of your system.  Somewhere on your page I want you to write "BUT..."  This will lead in to tomorrow's prompt :)  This is definitely not a fun prompt but it's kind of necessary in order to move past them.

 My Page:

Geeze louise!  I have so many.  Probably more than I even wrote.  Ok, tomorrow will be good, I promise :)
I can't wait to see your pages.  The Flickr group will be a great place to post these so that we can go through and see that we aren't the only ones dealing with certain things.
Love you!

run with scissors...

How about a little "scissors inspired" inspiration to start off this lovely lovely Friday morning :)  I am obviously a fan of scissors (hence the blog title).  Being an elementary art teacher I actually get to say things like "Don't run with scissors" like a ton.  Seriously though, I really do love them.  There are so many different styles, different uses, the evolution of the scissors, love love love.  Here are some awesome scissor pictures from weheartit for you!

(Run with Scissors, YES!!)

(this one is actually my desktop picture right now)

I saved the best one for last!!!  Are these the most BA scissors you have ever seen??  I need these, like for real :)  There is nothing like getting crafty and being ready to give a "neck punch" at any second!!
(p.s. I would never really neck punch anyone, i hate violence more than I hate hamburger, and that's a lot)
Ok, I am off to a fun sister day with Nicole and I could not be more excited!!!
I love you!!
