Randomness!

I can not believe that I didn't run home and blog about this as soon as it happened Saurday night but... I finished my quilt!!!!!! Ever since I finished the quit top I had it draped over the door to my craft room, just hanging out. It was daunting. I stared at it, I feared it, it haunted me. I decided that it wouldn't be so bad to just have a collection of quilt tops!! Rachel and Angela had both sent me some videos and links on binding but I still felt a little lost.
Soooo, after going to garage sales with my mom and dad, we went to Jackman's (the fabric store here). I took my quilt top to the counter where I met MaryLou. She was a cute older lady and my new quilting BFF. I handed her the quilt top and said "Hi, I need a lot of help, can you just get me everything that I will need to make this a real quilt." Then she asked me, will you be binding it yourself or having someone else do it? In which I replied, "Is there really someone here who I can PAY to turn this into a quilt for me??? Yes there was!! I was so excited but decided that I wanted to learn myself but will keep that in mind if I am ever in "a bind" (pun intended).
So MaryLou got me everything that I needed and even showed me how to do it!! A free little mini lesson with a promise to come back and take a class in the future :) Looooved her!! I actually think I am going to send her a card :)
I went to my parent's house and literally cranked it out!! My mom helped with ironing everything, Adam helped with the cutting, and my dad helped finish the binding after I wanted to scream. I didn't want to give up but I really wanted it to be done and he is an awesome sewer. Speaking of that, he really is!! He also has a bazillion sewing machines and I fell in love with the one that I used at his house so since he has FOUR of them, he let me take this one home!!!

Now I just need to bling it out like good ole Bernie :)
So, here is a picture of my finished quilt. I don't have a better picture right now but at least you can see the binding and the beauty. Basted, batting, backing, binding....DONE!

I predict that everyone will be getting quilts this Christmas!!! I love it...love it love it love it :)
NEXT on the agenda, yesterday was a fun day. Church was amazing as usual, all about forgiveness (so important). After church Adam and I laid in the living room and read Harry Potter books for 3 hours. We planned to do it for 1/2 and hour only but 3 hours later....amazing. Since the day was so beautiful we decided to take a drive, roll the windows down and sing at the top of our lungs. This drive led us to Dairy Queen and then to Creve Couer Park where we sat on the sail boat docks and watched the water and the beauty :) Seriously fun!! We wanted to stay and wait for the sunset but it was pretty early and Catalina wasn't too big a fan of all the people riding bikes and roller blading by.
Here are some cutie pics from our Sunday!

TODAY, we met my mom at the pool and water walked for an hour in the lazy river, against the current. It is a pretty serious work out for real. Apparently, it's 3 times the exercise of regular walking. I like it, it's relaxing, and it's nice to walk in water with the sun beating down on you while you are holding hands with your man....I like it!
After water walking we headed down to The Loop to sell some CD's and DVD's to Vintage Vinyl and have a day of fun and people watching, culture, good food, Ben and Jerry's ice cream, and artsy-ness. Another really fun day :)

Our goal is to visit as many St. Louis "must sees" as we can this summer. We also want to make sure that we do at least one new fun thing every week. My goal is to remember to take my camera so that I can document all of this fun this summer :) Hope everyone else is have a great start to their week!! I am off to work on quilt number two! Night!
xoxoxo
P.S. Do NOT forget to sign up for my give-a-way two posts down!!! You still have time :)

  2. ohh, seeing pictures of the loop makes me a little homesick.

then i remember that every time i went there i was hassled for change or harrassed for wearing gang colors (not on purpose, i mean look at me! who can i take on?!). I usually give what i can, but one particular day i literally had no cash or change (the "drawback" of using debit). the man we told this to was not very happy.
however, the loop is great for vinyl and ragorama is such fun (but always waayy too crowded every time i went) and the free shows at vintage vinyl are always nice.

  6. all of these pictures look great!! And your quilt turned out very nice. I know that binding for the first time can be difficult. I dont know how many times I had to go back and forth on the video until I got it right. After doing it a few times though it becomes easier. Your little dog is cute as ever. And I love that picture of you with the ice cream cone. And I also loved your sunglasses.
