Monday Inspirations...

Knitta Please!!  Hahahah!  I love that title.  It is the title of the coolest site that I have seen in awhile.  I am totally inspired by this group of people and am totally planning on taking part.  Here is the exact description from the Knitta website :)
"Knitta began in August 2005, when the soon-to-be-Knittas were discussing their frustration over unfinished knitting projects: half-knitted sweaters and balls of yarn gathering dust. That afternoon, they knit their first door handle. Then it dawned on them… a tag crew of knitters, bombing the inner city with vibrant, stitched works of art, wrapped around everything from beer bottles on easy nights to public monuments and utility poles on more ambitious outings. With a mix of clandestine moves and gangsta rap — Knitta was born! Today, Knitta is a group of ladies of all ages, nationalities, and… gender."
Honestly, I think this is the coolest.  I want to see some of this in St. Louis :)  If you are a knitter, go guerilla, and tag something around here :)  The knitta crew has hit all over the United States and all across other countries as well :)  Here are some of the pics off of the Knitta site, just to really show you how cool it is!

So, I am totally doing this. In fact, I may start knitting something tonight :) I mean seriously, knit a scarf and tie it around something :) If you decided to do this PLEASE link it in the comments so I can see it. Also, if you have any pics of Knitta work that you have seen, please share that too!!! I am so excited. I am all about guerilla and knitting, so this is soooooo perfect!!
P.S. Vivs, you are the best knitter I know so you better do this too!!!

  1. I saw this a while back and fell in love!

I would SO do this, but I'm always afraid someone is going to get me for, idk, yarn graffiti or something, lol.

I could always be a knitting vigilante...roaming the streets at night to ensure a prettier, craftier world exists for mankind? :P

  2. I will do this!!! The only thing that I ask is...please don't put anything around living things i.e trees because it is really bad for them. they cant breath and if its around them to long they can die.

  5. I had heard of this several years ago but never noticed any in my town until last week. I was so excited! Someone knitted up the pole on a streetlight on Cesar Chavez Street in Austin, TX. It's not surprising in this town, but made me very happy to live in such a cool place.

  6. I saw some of their work (top picture you posted) in Seattle in 2006. I wasn't sure what it was the first time around but then realized and was so impressed.
