Hey everyone! I'm Liz from Donna's Decembers blog and shop! I am a high school English teacher and teach mostly 10th graders. I love working with teenagers because they are completely unpredictable. I learned how to crochet when I was just 7 years old and use it as my creative outlet when I need to think about something other than work and grading papers. I dabble into other crafts and am trying to kick myself into gear to befriend my sewing machine in the next few weeks!
I started Donna's Decembers blog and shop in January right after my grandmother, Donna, passed from cancer. Donna taught me how to crochet and how to love creating things. I shared many long summer days with her growing up where she taught me how to cook, create, and care for people. I think she gave that same mentality to most of the people she knew. I named my shop Donna's Decembers because we were the only two family members with December birthdays. I always thought that it was so special that my grandmother and I had our birthdays so close together. This is where I share my creative crochet designs and try to give a little piece of my grandmother to those around me!
Tell us one random fact about yourself!
I grew up in a small town in Maryland where romance novelist Nora Roberts lives. I was very lucky to have been granted a scholarship from her my senior year of high school for a story I had written about a dear friend of mine. It's my little claim to fame :)
