green thumb

We took another family trip to a few local nurseries around town this week.
This week we focused on making our little herb garden and some flowers too (for some color). I had a ton of mason jars, and now I just need to purchase some of those brackets so that I can permanently fix these to our balcony :)
Here is what we got:

They are already so plentiful and I am getting ready to collect some of them for meals this week.  I can't wait to try them out :)

Adam and I also each picked out a little plant for our hanging planters (that also need to be affixed to the balcony).  He chose the crazy grass and I chose these pretty Begonias. They remind me of my grandma.

I didn't get any photos of the rest of the flowers that we picked up, but they are just a little random assortment in a hanging planter.  They are beautiful.  Miss Amelia and I spend each morning out there, reading books, and taking in all of the loveliness.

There are just a few more little projects I want to do out there and it will be PERFECT!
Do you all do any outdoor gardening?  Do any of you have space issues like me with gardening?
Have a blessed day!!

  1. This is awesome! I can't wait to see what you do with your garden. It'll inspire me - by next summer I should have my own balcony.

  2. I do some gardening every year, usually just in pots/containers. I don't have space issues, but we have soil issues...so containers work better. This year I let my kids pick out what we're growing. We are growing poppies, some kind of purple flower, a blackberry bush, yellow squash, cherry tomatoes and basil (the only thing I picked out). So far, they have grown beautifully!

  3. I can't wait to start our little garden -- once this baby pops out and I can bend over & see my feet again!

  4. I love gardening! I have a flower bed in my yard but I love planting them in containers too. I love arranging them. Just a thought, did you drill holes in the bottoms of those glass jars? I don't know much about those herbs, but a lot of plants need good drainage, especially if they're outside when it rains, etc... :) just a thought!

  6. I miss having a garden so much but we have herbs on the windowsill.

Its frustrating not being able to walk outside (in pjs) and feel grass under your toes!

I really love what you've done with the herbs and mason jars :) they looks awesome
