Oh Melisa! Giveaway

Hi there, I'm Melisa. I am from Pittsburgh PA and I am a lover of all things handmade, fashion, and celebrity related. Myself and 3 of my best gal pals started a blog not too long ago about these sorts of things.

 I work at a tattoo shop as a receptionist but whenever I have a chance, I am making unique children's (and some grown up) clothing and things.

 My little business goes by "oh melisa!" I started making applique items about 3 years ago or so and have so much fun doing it! 

All of my applique designs are hand drawn by me, I then cut the applique from various fabric scraps, fuse them and hand embroider each piece. Because they are made from various fabric pieces, no two are exactly the same! It makes me happy to know that each piece is truly one of a kind just like the kiddo wearing it. My shop, Donna's Decembers, is the home of luxe crochet items designed for men, women, and the home. I love making modern crochet items that are wearable and warm, but can also serve as your seasonal statement pieces. There's nothing better than getting a high quality item that you will wear nearly every day for an affordable price!

What is a current project you are working on?

I'm currently working on a top secret project to give to special friends as a wedding gift ;). They're getting married later this autumn and I truly believe a warm crochet home accessory will be perfect for them. That's what I love about crochet-it's such a functional art!

What are some of your fall traditions:

My husband and I just celebrated our one-year wedding anniversary in July, so we're still beginning to establish traditions! We always visit our local pumpkin patch at least once and drink a ridiculous amount of warm apple cider after long days in the classroom. This year we're making a point to go on more walks around our neighborhood and town to soak in all the colorful leaves and trees. The best thing about fall: low maintenance fun!

My Memories Software Giveaway!!!

birthday recap...

Hello friends!

Well, yesterday was a great day and I wanted to thank all of you for your lovely birthday wishes.  They were perfect.

Since we had celebrated my birthday dinner last week, tonight our little family got together to have birthday cake and play outside with the new puppy.

I got some really amazing gifts from my parents and sister.  I haven't had a chance to snap any photos of them though yet.

I completed ALL of my 30 before 31 goals except for one.  The one I didn't finish was the "trash the dress" photo shoot and that's ok.  It will happen one day :)

And now, what all of you have been waiting for... a free spot in Elaine's class, "ink blots."

I am giving away a mini flower bouquet.  

It is one of my newest additions to my shop. This mini flower bouquet is hand crafted from felt. It has the cutest metal button detail in the center of each flower.  I started my blog Whimsical Woodland approx. seven months ago to fulfill a goal I made for myself of having my own blog. I've long been a fan of blogs, and set myself a goal of six months to see if blogging would be a good fit for both myself, and my lifestyle. (I work full-time so I wasn't sure how/when I would have time to maintain a blog.)  Whimsical Woodland for me is a place to document everyday events, crafty creations, vintage finds, etc. The thing I enjoy most about blogging is that it is a way of preserving memories, and I love that. 

What are 3 goals that you have for your blog this year? 

To increase my readership/followers, work on being a more consistent blogger, remain true to myself and make sure that my blog continues to be a true reflection of who I am as a person, and my personality. 

What is your favorite Spring time activity? 

My favorite Spring time activity would have to be gardening. I get pretty excited when home improvement stores, farmers markets, and greenhouses start stocking Spring blooms. The colors, smells, and shapes of the plants are a great source of inspiration.
