Monday Inspirations...

Ever since I was about 13 years old and I read an article about her in Seventeen Magazine, I have loved Betsey Johnson. I remember they showed pictures from her home, and it was sooooo inspiring. I actually ripped out one picture, which I still have, of her sitting on her bed. She had a four poster bed, with a line of sorts going around the poles. She had dyed vintage women's slips all different colors and had then hanging from the line all around her bed. I wanted my bed to look like that sooooo bad!
Anyway, I love Betsey Johnson. I love her affordable Betseyville line. Her color, her eye for style, her textures, her shapes, all of it...She inspires me. Here is a Flickr mosaic that I made of some of my Betsey faves!!
I hope you feel inspired too!

Good People+Photo Booth=Good Times

ooooohmygoodness! Last night was a blast time a thousand!! I wish I had pictures to show you but I don't have any yet :) No one in my family had their camera soooooo...we will wait and see what others send! What I do have though is some pictures from the FABULOUS photo booth!! Can I just tell you how amazing this photobooth was?? Perfect! And the girls who run it are super cute and super fun!! I left with a whole album full of pics and little messages from each photo taken. The machine spits out two strips so that one can be kept by the bride and groom and the other can be taken as a memory. Man oh man, it was awesome! She also gave Adam and I a password to view and download some pics today so here are some of my favorites :)

I mean does it get more fun than that? They had props and custom designing for the photo strips. I could not have asked for a better photobooth or better girls to run it!! It was a blast! Hopefully, I will have some more reception pics to share with you sooooooooon!

Rad!

I absolutely love the idea of crafting in music videos. I mean seriously...music and crafts are two of my very favorite things. Check out Lisa Hanningan while she sings (lovely) and incorporates art while she does it:

and here is another one!

Does anyone know of any other videos like this. I think I would actually like to do something along these lines (on a way smaller scale obviously) with my fifth graders. Like have them make music videos of their favorite songs while incorporating art! I would love any suggestions of other videos like this :) Let me know!

p.s.

New look for the blog :)
Now, it's all mine!

the seven things...

1. I am OBSESSED with diet dr. pepper. Like really obsessed :) If I don't have one, I can't function properly :) It is an addiction.
2. I barely eat any meat at all. When I do eat it, it's chicken and it has to "look okay" to me. Now when I say it has to look okay, that is on my terms, and it is sooooo super picky. I am weird..
3. I have soooo many big dreams and I'm not sure how they will ever all happen for me.
4. I will definitely some day adopt a child, or five.
5. I loooooooove reading. Always have, always will. I can finish a novel in two days...no matter what.
6. I am a sudoku junkie. I used to do one sudoku puzzle every night before I went to sleep.
7. I rarely get mad and if I do it's only for a few minutes, an hour at the most. I'm just not that kind of girl.
8. Sometimes I have panic attacks, and they suck so bad, and I hate it. BUT I trust in the fact that God has given me this trial for a reason :)
9. I'm a Mac, not a PC...Adam is sooooo a PC.
10. I am blessed, and truly grateful for that.
Wow, that was fun :) Try it, and link it in the comments.
Tomorrow is the end of Adam and I's 3 month wedding tirade. It is our Wedding Reception. I am super excited to see a lot of people who I haven't seen in awhile and to hang out with my Cha Cha's :) Also, I rented a Black and White Photo Booth for four hours. Does it get any cooler than that? I don't think so!!!
I will be posting a bazillion photo booth pictures I am sure!!
Adam's BFF, Jimmy, flew in today so they are having a boy's night. I am staying the night at my parent's house doing a lot of last-minute reception stuff.
Have a great weekend.
I love you all!

So very thankful

Margot, over at The Spark, posted a mini challenge for everyone to photograph five things that they are most thankful for. I loooove these kinds of challenges :) I actually just finished writing 50 things that I was thankful for in my journal the other night so it was kind of hard to narrow it down to five, but here we go!
1. First, and forever, I am most thankful for my faith, and everything that it encompasses. I would literally be a hot mess if I didn't have faith and God and Jesus. sooooooo thankful!

(For some reason, when I took this picture, it totally reminded me of God so that is why I chose it).
2. Reynosa, Mexico. This small little town and, more importantly, this little colonia, has changed my heart. I am so thankful for the beauty, and new definition of love that I found while I was there. I don't think there will EVER be another place that dwells in my heart and impacts my life as much as this beautiful colonia.

3.My family and my pup, Catalina :)

4. My husband <3

5. Inspiration in every form-nature, friends, online classmates, magazines, blogs, books, God, family, heros, etc.

I definitely could have posted way more items that I am thankful for. Isn't it a blessing to have an infinite list of things that we are thankful for compared to the tiny little post-it note sized list of the things we aren't thankful for? Smile! Be thankful. If you choose to take this mini-challenge yourself, please post a link to it in the comments or over at The Spark!

My occupation...

I am an elementary art teacher :) It is one of those jobs where even if you have been sick for two days and still feel kind of yucky you are mostly excited to get back to work! I love art, I love my students, I love my classroom and I love to create! I walked into my classroom and felt instantly happy :) So, this morning I decided to take some pictures of my classroom and share it awesomeness with you!
Enjoy:

Now here are some other things that are making me happy today :)
1. I saw this awesome poster on The Spark and I have to have one!!

2. I finished my tree embroidery last night and I loooooove it!! The pattern is one of Elsie's from our online class:

My Sick Day in Photos :)

Well, I was still feeling pretty crummy today so I had to call in sick again. So, I decided to photo journal my day to keep myself busy!
So, here we go...

This is what the table looks like in front of the couch that I have been laying on for two days :)

You can still see some of the dissapearing ink that will soon be gone but I love the way this turned out. I sewed in some vintage buttons from my grandma's old button tin.

(Another W.I.P.)

So, I started this next project before Easter but I wanted to add a lot more!

I feel like I have a gotten a lot done so far today, and it is only 1:35!!
I need to nap now...have a great Tuesday!
